Does anyone positively know what species of wood was used on the 49-52 tin woody interior door panels. I have researched the Fisher Station Wagon Body Construction Manual and the Chevy Master Parts books and there are only vague references to describe the wood such as "plywood","laminate", and "wood". I am assuming it either has to be mahogany, birch, or maple veneer which is varnished. I would like to get the restoration correct....does anyone know for sure? Thanks

Hey 52 Wagon,
I'd check with "brownie." He's the moderator of this (49-52) forum. If he doesn't respond to your question soon, you should be able to click on his name in the moderator column and get his email address.
You could also get his info in your G and D (presuming you're a VCCA member) on the Tech Advisor page. As I recall, he's the Tech Advisor for 49-52 wagons.
Hope this helps.
Bill.

The wood used inside the 52 steel wagon was Cherry Mahogany. In my experience the best way to get this effect is to purchase a sheet of mahogany panneling in a very light color and use some cherry manogany stain on the pannel. On my wagon I did thin the stain so that the color would not be too dark. Brownie TA69
