I recently acquired a '33 Master 5 window coupe with the engine out of the car. There are several engines in various states of repair, however, I don't know how to identify the correct one for this car. Are there casting #'s that would ID the block and head?
Thanks,

There's casting numbers & date codes on the passenger side of the block. There is also a serial number stamped behind the fuel pump mount. Give us some of those numbers & we'll try to help. Casting dates are; letter, number or 2 together & then another number...Joe

My dilemma is that the car and the engines are a 5 hour drive away. I have to make arrangements to pick up the car and the parts, including one or two engines, on one trip hopefully. My parts book, '29 to '55, doesn't list any info prior to 1940 on any of this. Is there anywhere else I could find the casting numbers, block and head, that would help?
Thanks again,

The engine casting number will be 836915. Date code should be something like B 12 3. The three is the year. Could even have a engine with a 2 at the end as Eagles came out in 1932 followed by Masters in March of 1933. All were 1933 model year...Joe

I have a couple of '33 engine assemblies for sale. One is quite complete; casting no. 836915, cast date H 29 3, ser. no. 3893383. It comes with a complete (but partially disassembled head); casting no. 836718, cast date B 15 2. The second incomplete engine is same casting no. Comes with intake/exhaust manifold assembly; also distributor assembly. I'm asking $400 for all of the above. Send me your e-mail address for photos; mine is gdchildsjr@sbcglobal.net. I'm in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The 836718 head is for a 1932-cast date Feb.15 1932.

Thanks for the help! I believe there is a correct #'ed block present. Now I need a '33 head # if anyone has that.

Thanks again,

The head part number is 836960 and I believe the casting number is 836961. My xref book is packed away as that room is undergoing a "restoration".

Thanks for all the help. I think I'm armed with enough info to sort out what I need.
Thanks again,
