What year did Chevrolet start spray painting cars?

I recently found out that Oakland was the first car company to spray paint cars in 1923 - 24.

Those early guys did some great brush paint jobs!

I seem to remember that Chevrolet began to use DuPont lacquer in 1925. Will try to see if I can find a hard reference to substantiate it.

In one contact during my investigation I was told that they used to brush on the lacquer then rub it out.

Yesterday I was looking on one of my doors on the '27 coupe that I am restoring which looks to have original "well worn / oxidized" paint and I believe I can detect brush marks.

Page 8 of the February 1927 Service News shows the striping for used cars using Duco. I don't have time right now to investigate further but at least Duco (nitro cellulose) lacquer was sprayed in 1927 at dealerships. I am sure that the body plants used that much more efficient process much earlier.
