What bolts are used in the five recessed holes to hold this plate to the front of the '24 motor and where can I find them? I know they are 7/16-14 but I cannot find any with a head that sets below or even with the surface of the plate. The gear cover that bolts to this plate goes directly over at least one of the holes. Thanks

In Australia,we'd call them fillister head screws(round head diameter, flat headed screws). They're not actually bolts,as going by your posted picture, the plate is staked into the slot of the screw head once the screws are tightened up.

Mike my 490/superior parts book dated July 1925 shows two sets of screws that hold your gear cover plate (P/N 978).
Nine Round head cap screws 1/4"-20 X 3/8" and Five Flat head cap screws 1/4"-20 X 1/2".

Thanks guys, I ordered a bag of flat head cap screws - 7/16-14x3/4 - from online. I will let you know how they work when I get them in.
