On my 41 Chevy, I want to put new escutcheons on the door and window handles. How do I get the handles off. I can't figure it out? Ed

My '38 has a small tapered set screw that is accessed through a small hole in the door jamb. I don't know if that translates to a '41 but it might be worth a look.
Edit: After looking at the catalog it looks like it's the same in '41. It's a slot head. Screw it out and the handle should just pull off.

I think he is talking about the inside door handles and window cranks.

After re-reading it you are likely right. It's a horseshoe shaped spring clip. There's a special tool that you push under the handle that releases the clip. I've used a flat screwdriver but I don't recommend that because it's easy for the clip to slip into the wrong position and really screw things up. The first two minutes of this video will fix you up. (not my video) You can get the tool from any of the vendors. The tool shown in the video is the easiest to use. You can also get a plyer type tool.

Thanks, guys, for the info. That tool in the video seems to be the answer. Ed

An alternative is to use a metal pick with a curved pointed end like a dentist uses on your teeth. The one I have reaches nicely behind the door handle and pulls the retaining clip out of its groove. You will find many other uses for the pick as well.

I use a pick also. Just hold a rag over the handle when using the pick so the clip doesn't fly away to never never land.
