Starting to install the glass in my 38 sedan. Before I go any further can someone confirm that there is no "fuzzies" on the car side of the rear side glass? It appears that there are just two rubber bumpers correct??

Thanks

By "car side" I mean the outside. I have two slots there for what looks like would be a rubber bumper, no evidence of staples. The inside trim still has the fuzzies stapled to it.

There is felt window sweep installed on the body as well as on the window garnish. The sweeps keep the glass from contacting the body eliminating rattling and some water penetration. They also aid in the stabilization of the glass as the window is rolled up.

Here are two pictures showing how to install the clips onto the sweep and what your final installation might look like.

I have additional pictures and can help with installing the weatherstrip that is attached to the window opening.

I am assuming that a 38 would be the same as what was done through out the 40's???

Good luck, Mike

P.S. I think the ebay picture shows the felt strips as they appear on a door Weatherstrip kit for 38 Chevy

Since my rear side windows are stationary I can't be of specific help but my door windows are as you describe, sweep on the garnish moldings and rubber bumpers on the door side. I don't see why it would be different on the rear side windows but it may be.

Thanks guys. It makes sense to have the sweep on both sides that's why I wanted to check. But, I guess for some reason they only had it on the garnish and then used bumpers on the other side. odd...I am learning a lot about this car for sure.

For clarification sweep on both sides won't stop water penetration of the door. That's why they put drain holes in the bottom of the door. I can't tell you how many times back in the day, when I worked as a body man, I did rust repair that I discovered was caused by blocked drain holes. Often blocked by undercoating.

Thanks Tiny, I made sure the drain holes were clear and installed my glass today. Thanks
