I'm interested in navy blue from TCP paint's reproduction color line. Does anyone know if it's a pretty good match for the original color?

Thanks

It is dificult to see the true color from their chip chart. On my actual chip in real life it is a dark blue with no metallic. Nothing odd about the color. Just a nice dark blue.
To be sure what their color looks like you could order some in the smallest quanity available. It would end up to be a good thing to have some extra paint for later and put your mide at ease.

Navy blue is just that, navy blue. If it is not right it wasn't mixed properly or the mixer didn't care.

There might be some original color still left on the car. Check on top of the passenger door. Or under the door looking up with the door open. These places were seldom re-painted. You can then color match.

The 1937 dark blue is Toronto Blue and has a different mixing formula.

I've ordered a sample of the Navy Blue from TCP and Gene has been kind enough to offer to compare it to the original paint chip that he has. We will report back the results after he compares them.

If anyone has an original paint Navy Blue 36 car and would be interested in participating in the experiment I would be happy to send a small sample to test in a very inconspicuous place, I would be grateful.

Thanks all for your advice and help.

Paint a Fifty Cent size circle of the paint onto a white sheet of paper and mail it to me. I will compare it to the original non-faded paint on my car by using a computer scan. Please click on the red flashing flag near the "My Stuff" on the top of the page for my address.

Terrill,
I received your letter a couple of days ago.

Thanks for looking at the paint samples for me. I'll "publish" the results to the list very soon.
