ON MY 41 coupe, the previous owner had a generic round knob for the wiper unit. I'd like to get the original looking knob instead. Does the knob screw off or pry up? Do I have to get the unit itself? (I'm not keen on going underneath the dash to do this). What do you think? Ed

The original knob was moulded on to the wire stem. If your present knob is working but just looks wrong the knob from the Filling Station will be OK. Not knowing how the round knob is attached (set screw?) remove it and press on the new knob heating the new knob in hot water first enalbling it to slide on easier.

The generic knob could be glued on, or held in place with a set screw, or be just pressed on. It should be easy to pry off and press a new knob on the exposed shaft that held the old knob. Chevs of the 40s or the Filling station both sell the knobs . You can order them from their on line catalogs.

No need to take the switch out from under the dash.

Wiper knob from Chev's of the 40's

Wiper Knob from The Filling Station

Good luck, Mike
