My '51 has a '54 engine and I would like to know if the transmission was changed with the engine.
The number on the bottom of the transmission is 3702602 the number under that is A54. I have been told that the casting number is for a '53-'54 and the A54 means that is is a '54.
Where can I find this information for future reference?
Thanks

The "A54" indicates it was cast in Jan. of 1954 making it a 1954 transmission. The 1954 PG will start in low automatically and shift into Drive between 15 and 35 MPH depending on accelerator position and correct linkage adjustment. The 1951 PG did not start in low automatically.
