Hi Guys!

Having some brain fade here! I either failed to make a note or forgot where I put the note about bulb position in my '37 Master Coupe taillight assembly. I tried a search but could not find the answer.

Which light function goes to the top of the taillight assembly? Tail light or brake light?

Thank you!

Easy way to check is to put both bulbs in and turn on the tail light or on some models the tail light lights the license plate also.

Thanks J.

I am installing a new wiring harness. I want to determine which wire goes to the top.

I agree that in the left assembly the tail light also lights the license plate. It can do that from either position in the housing.

The tail light bulb will be on top, brake light on the bottom.

Yes, that orientation makes sense. Having the brake light centered in the lens will increase its visibility. Plus this orientation positions the taillight so it better lights the license plate in the left assembly.

Thank you!

Rusty,

Thanks for raising this thread. I recently noted that my 41's license plate light was out. I must replace it as soon as possible. I run the risk of getting a citation.

I was going to do it yesterday but the weather down here only got up to 65 degrees. I ain't going out no such cold weather. Mercy!

Best,

Charlie computer
