Good morning! We are in the process of rebuilding the electrolock on our '31 and wondered if there was any information available on this unit and how to restore it.

Thanks in advance.

Some information is available. There was an article in the "Generator & Distributor" (the monthly magazine of the VCCA) way back in the late 1960's on how to remove the lock cylinder, testing the electrolock and etc. There was also an article about how to attach the electrolock to the distributor in the Standard Auto-Electrician's manual as well.

Years ago Skinned Knuckles magazine published a detailed artical on the various types of electrolocks and how they work. Don't recall what year or issue of the magazine though.

The 1929-32 Chevrolet parts book has illustrations of the various parts used on the electrolock.

If you have any specific questions regarding the electrolock you can ask them here since there are several dudes on this site that rebuild/restore 1929-32 electrolocks.

And there are some articles or tech pages available in the online Technical Library which is available to ALL VCCA Members. Some of these specifically address the electrolock.

If you join online H-E-R-E you would have immediate access to the library and a couple thousand pages of documents. --- AND to all of the issues of the G&D for the past SIX YEARS.

Just say'in. bigl This is how we fund our site and make materials available for hobbyists.

Please consider your support. Naturally you'll also begin to receive a monthly Magazine too.
