I have someone interested in my NOS 37 radiator I recently mention in a post. The party wants it for a 38. They are listed separetely in my parts book.

Question: What is the difference and qill the 37 work ok for the 38. I don't ever to sell someone something that they can't use or doesn't fit properly.

I'd appreciate any advice on this matter. I don't know what the difference in the two radiators. It may be in the core. Again, I don't know.

Thatnks,

From the 1938 Engneering
"The radiator core, its self, remains the same as in 1937 with the exception of two minor changes. The filler neck is shortened 9/16 of an inch and the overflow pipe now curves toward the center line of the car at the lower end instead of towards th front of tthe car."

Howes that?

It might make a difference to the buyer if he plans to show it VCCA style

would he be dinged any points at a VCCA event running a 37 radiator?

I have a 38 and I was breaking up a 37 which came with a better radiator. I had the radiator overhauled and transferred the 38 filler neck over because if I didn't the hood wouldn't have shut. They shortened it for a reason. Beyond that the framework that goes around the core is quite different.

If the VCCA judge was knowledgeable and astute enough there might be a point or two deduction. The chance of that to happen is very low.

Even less chance of a judge noticing if the radiator was mounted within a Pontiac shaped doghouse.

I have 2 rads and the long neck one is original to my car. The short neck one looks the same but has the overflow tube change that Gene mentions. Appears that the 37 rad could slip right in.
