Anyone have suggestions on a replacement radiator for 1947 Chevy stylemaster? Mine is not repairable core leaks in several places and bottom tank is cracked. It was flushed out by a radiator shop and the mechanic said he couldn't repair it, he checked with other shops to find original tanks to no avail. So I'm trying to find something that looks original, not a shiny aluminum one. Thanks

you might find one listed for sale on ebay to get the better tanks and maybe a good core. you need to also find a rad shop that does re-coring. WALKER RADIATOR in Memphis area , has an excellent reputation. There should still be wrecking yards to scour and see what there is in your area. Stuff is out there you just have to work at finding it. mike ...... there are 2 used ones for sale on ebay under " 1946 1947 1948 Chevrolet radiator " $150 and other at $200

Check The Filling Station and Chev's of the 40's. They show replacements.

Have you even tried "Parts Wanted" below? Surely someone on Chat can help. NOS ones are not that rare. There is a wide range of years -- I think they fit 42-48. If I'm wrong, somebody will ponit it out. I have several NOS radiators but nobody seems to want one. I don't have a 42-48 however. I do have a 55 six cylinder and a 37 one among others. BTW: Some radiator cores are so rotten that all the pinholes can't be repaired by soldering them up. Back in the day when this happened when being tested after boiling and roddding, we soldered up the major pinholes, cut out some flues and then for the minor pinholes used some Solder Seal. The SS would take care of the pinholes. Remember that these radiators were not pressurised so a little SS would work wonders on a clean radiator. Good luck. Charlie

It would be good to know exactly what years fit and if it needs to be year correct. There are two listed locally now on Craig's List.

Here is the parts book to figure out what fits.

My parts book (29-55) list a "core, radiator" grp 1.219 with 42-48 passenger the same. Not sure if that is core with tanks or not as I could not find tanks listed separately.

1942-1948 raditors are the same but be sure it is a genuine Harrison. There were gyp radiators made back then ALSO. aLSO DON'T GO FOR A USED ONE AS MOST ARE JUNK BY NOW.

I remember my first summer in Phoenix with my 48, car came from Pennsylvania, car overheated and radiator was a mess. Looked on Craigslist and found still in the box a new Harrison radiator for my 48, so I'm sure there still out there.

Seeing that he has a cracked non repairable lower tank perhaps a used radiator with good tanks could be used if recored. I agree a NOS radiator would be preferred but finding one may be a challenge.
