Don't think I want to attempt this, any recommendations on where to have this rebuilt, I can remove tyranny and have it shipped. I'm in San Diego area. Thank you.

It is amazing that none of us know of a transmission rebuilder we can recommend.

Mercy!

I think he is looking for someone near him. My suggestion is to do it himself. Get the necessary manuals and start learning. They are not that complicated and when questions arise he can find lots of help here.

Steve,

I got the impression that he was willing to ship it somewhere to get it done if that was necessary. I may have misinterpeted his post.

You will find he has two transmission posts and discovered his leakage problem.

..."I can remove tyranny and have it shipped."

Gene,

Avove is the statement that led me to believe he was willing to ship the transmission to have it worked on.

I highly recommend: All Standard Transmissions, 861 Camden Ave. #3, Campbell, Ca; Kevin is owner/operator; phone (408) 379-7290. He completely rebuilt my '41 passenger car transmission with authentic NOS gears, bearings, shafts, and even a NOS synchromesh (which he had on the shelf!) He was able to do what two other local transmission shops had been unable to do in the past: to get the synchromesh to function as it was designed to do, and not grind when downshifting from 3rd to 2nd.

When Kevin got got through with the rebuild the transmission performed like the 'General' designed it to do from the factory. I couldn't recommend him more highly.

There you go. Sounds like an excellent solution to me.
