Does anybody have any secrets as to how to remove the radiator of a 1937 Chevrolet pick-up truck without taking the whole front end off of the truck?
Thank you for any kind of help!

The 1937 Engineering Manual states "Attachment of the core is similar to the passenger car design, so it is simplified so that it is not necessary to remove the grille or radiator shell when removing the core for servicing"

Will, Thank You, Gene, I've seen that before, but do you have any idea what that means? I would love to be able to remove the radiator core for servicing without removing the grille or radiator! It would be a dream come true! But, I guess I need a lesson on how this can be done. Can you, or anyone else show me the "trick" to doing this?

Hi Joe, The only way I know how to remove the radiator on Martin-Parry bodies** in tact without removing the front shell is to remove hood and tilt shell forward bending fenders out. I usually cut off the "wings" that cover the frame, tho not recommended for restorations. The fan is frequently so close to the radiator core that the belt can not be changed. **Fisher bodied Coupe Pickups are excluded. Good luck, Lou

My thought would be to remove hood and v brace. Then remove fan and water pump. That should give you enough clearance to pull the rad. straight up while standing on the front bumper. I put a plank across my '36 bumper with padding to protect the grill and have pulled/replaced the rad. that way. No need to bend anything.
