So I would like to know what's the correct spotlight for my 48 and after looking on the web I've seem to find myself in the same spot of not being sure. Anyone know if they are year specific? I currently have a unity s 5 which I most certain is not correct. Any help in this would greatly be appreciated.

Chevrolet odffered a 5 7/8" Unity and a Unity with a sealed beam unit. Also a 5 9/16" Guide and a Guide with a sealed beam. I don't have he measurements for the sealed beam models. So you think there is confusion?

My question is: Do you really want to drill that hole, and have that thing hanging off the side of your beautiful car...?

I think he already has a spot light on his car, just looking for the correct one for his year.

I know what you mean about drilling the hole. I had a very nice spotlight for my '46 Wagon, but just could not get myself to drill the hole. I sold the light at the Tahoe swap meet so I won't be tempted again!!

Yep already have one on just curious on which one for my car. I think I would have drilled the hole either way. Looked at my fog lights and they are also the unity manufacturer and from what chev nut said, unity was one they used. I guess I'll stick with what I have.

The correct fog lights for a 1946-1948 is a Guide with a small 4 5/8" lens.

CC, Congratulations on havine the correct spotlight. It looks reall good. Nothing looks worse that those fake ones that you put on both sides of the car. The wood still looks good. Yep! There is nothing positive I can say about those chrome mountings seen behind the spotlight. Sorry. I'll never understand the thinking that goes on in the mind of someone who thinks sticking one of those stinkin things on a beautiful 48 or earlier Chevrolet, such as you have, an improvement. We must do more to educate the masses on art appreciation. The first axiom n such art appreciation develement is learning that sometimes "More is less." Seems to me the Fulton, et al, lovers are in the caryon stage of development. You too! NO OFFENSE INTENDED. JUST TRYING TO HELP. AM TOO! Best, Charlie

Charlie, thanks for some of your statements and I know you personally hate the Fulton visor...But I will need to battle you over the art appreciation statement....The Fulton is a perfect match for the Chevy Fleetline and its round sloped body....The lines are quite attraction and for many, it is said the Fulton inproves the look of the car...besides being a very successful Chef I am a fine artist and sculptor and feel my opinion is a valid one...... Sorry Charlie

CC, I concede the point. You opinion is just as good as mine. Maybe even better owing to the fact ahat you own the car. I just don't like "um while some do. I was wondering what GM accessories you have for your car. I would be interested in you listing them. For instance do you have the 48 radio or the 47? Do you have the right electric clock? Do you have the accessory hubcaps? Heater? Etc. I'm asking partly with an interest in helping you find any accessories you desire. It is the least I can do after "bad-mouthing" your Fulton so severely. Let me know. I have an electric clock still in the box. I think they are rather common though. Best, Charlie Again: You have a beautiful car abd that wood really sets it off to make it "spectacular" as used in "Sienfield" (sp) on one notable episode.

My 48 has a Unity spotlight on it. It was there when I bought it. The bulb is 5 inches. This is the exposed glass area. It is a sealed beam. # 4535 30W 6-8V. Here is a picture of the bulb. http://www.bulbconnection.com/ViewSIMItem/bcrw/simid/1803/item.htmlHave thought about installing another one on the passenger side, but haven't yet.

Keith, I second guess my self all the time about the addition of the spot light....."Back in my accessary addition days"...The light is correct and I have restored it well but it does not do justice to look of the car...no turning back though Charlie, I have a NOS clock in the box...The box is in good shape and says "Electric Pannel Clock"....When I removed the clock from the box the only wire I find is to the light....30 hour wind up. Yes......If you have the real Electric Clock. Lets talk please, thanks Charlie here's my box...But the "New Clock" inside is wind up...Maybe has to do with the part no.being reposted ???

It was common for the dealer to replace the standard equipment spring wound clock with an eletric and put the spring wound clock in the eletric box. Then it got put back on the shelf and forgotten.

I was wondering what GM accessories you have for your car Charlie, it will be a much shorter list if you ask Bruce to list the accessories he does NOT have for the '48!

So after reading all the responses, is it my understanding that it goes by size of bulb? Or is there a model number I can look for? Example Guide 21xxx.

This is the bulb I use in my Guide Spot Light #1323...You can get it from COT40s....When I 1st tried to replace the original bulb, I had to be very careful and work at it slowly...The bulb was pretty much frozen in place

Probably not do anything. Sure not buying new ones. I have two or three in the garage. Not spending that kind of money on them. Have a few other things to do before spotlight on passenger side. Did not know there is a right and left.
