I know that this topic has been explained many times but I need an answer and would really appreciate it. My 39 Chev master deluxe has 4.22 gears,I have out of 37,38,or39 complete 3.73 rear end all together torque tube drive shaft, housing, and everything that was pulled out.If it is from a 37,or 38 and won't work can someone tell me why it won't work?

Why will it NOT work?????????????
Who said it will not work????????
All of those parts are the same for 1937-1938 and 1939.

The banjo housing and the spring seat trunions are different on the 1937 rear axle assembly, so that is why either your original 1939 (or a 1938) banjo is needed.

The banjo housing is the big part that goes from wheel to wheel. I mentioned this in my first post. You said you picked-up the center housing and torque tube/drive shaft which is the common part that fits into the bajo housing. So you are safe.

I have my 37 all apart just make sure your back lash is good and your pinion to ring contact is in the middle of both gears. Set contact by shims for the pinion. The back lash is set by the threaded rings in the housing. Make sure every thing is edible clean. The Chevy shop manual will help a lot.

Seeing he is installing a complete assembly he should not need to make any adjustments...I hope.
