Clutch has been working normally then last night when I depressed pedal I felt a slight "give" then no clutch engagement, return spring is ok, sounds like throw out bearing?? Not to familiar with this so before I tear into removing tranny to check this out I would appreciate any help or advice from you all. Thank you so much.

Check the following:

a. Clutch return spring. It may have broke.

b. That arm is still on the pivot knob.l Probably not but check if "a" is still in good shape.

c. That there is engagement/movement when starter is engaged. That will tell us a lot.

I'm not real clear on what you witnessed other than a bump and easy play of the clutch pedal. Can you furnish more information?

Could be something with the fork, throw out bearing or pressure plate.
You can remove the flywheel under pan , have some one move the pedal up and down, and observe what is happening.

Thanks for the quick reply, return spring ok, just felt something odd when I depressed pedal, it was in neutral and now no matter which gear I put it in with engine running it's like it's always in neutral

Took off cover and discovered the clutch gear bearing retainer on tranny is broken and hanging up the throw out bearing, o well, the tranny leaks like a sieve anyway.

It probably was leaking for the cracked/broken bearing retainer.
The original 1941 bearing retainer was pot metal and often broke after a short timme. A replacement will be iron. If you do the work see the shop manual where the inner part of the throw out bearing requires grease so it slides freely on the retainer.

Yes it was pot metal, so are you saying that after I remove tranny I can just replace the retainer?

Then it was an original. Must be the last one remaining.
With out being there to see what you have I would be rather positive that it was your problem.

If that is where it was leaking the flywheel under pan will be gear oil coverd and gear oil would have dripped out of the hole on the bottom.
