almost all 55 sbc parts will fit on a 60 sbc. the main difference is the crankcase vent system on a 55 differs significantly from a 60 chevy small block 283. and the 55 has no oil filter married to the block. there will be three drilled and tapped pads cast into each side of the 60 sbc to fasten motor mounts(which the 55 265 will lack). i assume your question relaters to the small block v-8 chevy engines, not the 235 ci six cylinder engines . mike

There are no big problems. First the front mounting plate will need to have two motor mount bolt holes drilled in it using the old plate as a pattern. The long shaft water pump will need modfication but if it had a 1955 engine installed alreadt the involved parts can be transfered. Other than that the parts will compare with the 1955 engine with the possible location of the carburetor linkage

hi all I have got my motors at last from what I can tell using the engine numbers they look like a 1955 and a 1956 motor I have a few more questions please these engines didn't come with a starter motor and the gears on the flywheel are closer together my 39 fly wheel will not fit. the mounting to the crank shaft flange is different can I put a 56 starter motor drive onto my 39 starter motor and use this or am I best to get a 56 starter motor if so will it be 12 volt which I am using

All Power Glides from 1950-1956 have a 3.55 ratio. In 1957 the 14" wheels required the ratio to drop to 3.36 to give the same overall engine speeds.
