You can use the copper scrub pads available in a super market or even the dollar store. The kind used for scrubbing pans. Just be sure they don't have anything else added to the pad.

Last year I bought a roll of copper mesh made for air filters from The Chevs of the 40's www.chevsofthe40s.com for around $12.00

Worked great.
