No prefix number or B is a 4.22
Prefix C or CB is a 3.73

The 1937 and 1939 will work but will have different pre fix letters.

The numbers are stamped into the housing to the right side of the differential carrier above the center rib ....kind of just behind were the torque tube enter the housing
The info from Chevrolet that I have says CB for the 3.73 made in Tonwonda and C if made a the Detroit plant.
For 1937 it lists just C for 3.73 and no marking for 4.22

If still in doubt , remove the back cover and count the number of teeth on the ring gear or find the teeth number that is stamped in the ring gear circumference.

It could be a 1937-1938 or 1939 which are all the same and from a Master model....and a 3.73
The actual year the gears were made will be stamped into the ring ggear and pinion gear.
The torque tube and center carrier will be fine but do not use the banjo housing if from other than a 1938.
