Can I replace a 1936 Chevrolet Standard transmission with the transmission from a Master without changing the bell housing or torque tube? ( Here's why.) If I can, would I be better off to search for the Toledo transmission or the Warner transmission? Thanks!

The bell housing would be the same. The problem is at the rear like length, U joint, splines, etc. The Warner Chevrolet used in 1935 and 1936 due to a strike was for Master models only.

The bolt pattern at the front is different and you will need a master bell housing. As for the torque tube etc, nothing will match up without a lot of machining. It can be done and I have seen it done but it is not a bolt up operation.
