I could use some advice guys. I have a '42 Chevy Master Deluxe 2Dr Coupe. It came setup with a '56 Chevy 265 and Powerglide but the car is unfinished and I have already begun with cleanup and grinding of rust, etc. All else is '42 original. The car was a project a gentleman in Wisconsin began long ago but sadly he became ill and his family sold the non running car.
I've worked on old cars before but this is my first modified project. I'm concerned about the original drug brakes and steering as well as suspension and even the 265 engine. My intent is to have a V8 with auto trans, ac and make it a reliable driver.
Keeping some semblance of cost in mind what overall mod if any would you guys suggest? I've seen the Mustang II frontend kits and they look great but then I'm changing the engine and tranny and entire rearend. I think the original suspension would be fine but I'm concerned about four wheel drums.
I'm trying to figure out which way to go with a rolling chassis (when I've got it to that point!). I have all the time I need so I'm trying to get a good idea of how to go about this.
Your input would be appreciated.
Mike

I have a 41 that I built using a mustang type front end, has a 383 tuned port out of 91 Camaro 700R4 trans 88 S-10 4x4 reared with 3.42 gears, makes a very nice road car. I only made 3 small changes on the outside so it still looks like a 41. I know someone makes disc brake kits for the original front end. You could also get an adapter for a duel master cylinder to use the original pedal.

You can probably get some help and answers on the site "chevy talk". There are quite a few members here who participate on that site.
My 1951 1 Ton is now on the road! My 38 Master 4 Door is also now on the road .
