Hello. I have a '74 Caprice convertible that I purchased in 1981. Does anyone have any details on the upholstery type and color choices? I believe that in January (?)of '74, the white upholstery in the convertible was changed from the narrow pleat vinyl in an off-white color (possibly called neutral), to a true white color with wide pleats. I 'm guessing that this change coincided with the introduction of the Spirit of America Impala Sport Coupe option; the Caprice convertible and the Spirit Impala appear to have the same seating surfaces. This wide-style pleat, white upholstery was continued into the 1975 convertibles. My Caprice has a June '74 build date, so I'm guessing it was one of the final '74's. Built in Baltimore. Does anyone have any early 1974 product bulletins, notifications, etc. that will confirm this? Also, mine has the 454, but no 454 emblems on the fender chrome. I've seen some '74's that have the emblems (one was a November '73 convertible) and the 74 showroom catalog showed the emblems as well. I've also seen an April '74 build hardtop and a March convertible without the 454 emblems. Again, I'm guessing that sometime around the first of the year Chevy stopped calling out the 454 on the big cars. Probably due to the late '73 gas crisis; no percentage in advertising a gas guzzler! Anyway, I'd appreciate any information. I know these dinosaurs are not on a lot of folk's radar, but they're the ones I grew up with. Thank you all. Matt Desy #45077

That information probably would be sent to dealers in the form of a letter or bulletin and go to the sales department. I find nothing in the Info... I have

Thanks Gene. I don't know if anyone would have logged or kept product bulletins. Likely service bulletin would have been archived by a dealer, but not sales updates. I may put an ad in the G&D under info wanted. Matt Desy #45077
