I noticed my oil pan has this extra strap overlaying the curved end and bolted down with the 2 bolts at the rear main seal but the front of the oil pan doesn't have one. Is there supposed to be this strap at both ends of the pan?
Thanks,
Mike

Gene, thanks for confirming, I have had the car decades and never took the pan off until now.. a buddy just sent me a pic of an oil pan on eBay and it shows straps at both ends? different year?

Perhaps they came both ways. Are there there any spot weld marks on the pan where it could have been?

My rear strap is not spot welded or attached to the oil pan - it comes off when I remove the bolts. I don't see any marks or traces on either end of the oil pan that something was attached. Maybe an extra strap was put on trucks? weird..

I have the pan of 2 engines at the moment and only noticed the reinforcement strap on the rear of both. That is not saying there isnt 1 on the front which I will check tomorrow, I think both of my engines are Canadian.
