I want to put a v8 in my 53. But I dont want to cut my car or change it. will a 307 or 283 work? I am a body man not motor's.

All the small blocks will fit, and even a 454. But there are some other forums catering for the modifier, where you wll find deeper information on this way of doing things, like Chevytalk.

Thanks Mahar. Also you will have to move the emergency brake handle and probably the fresh air ducts, and refab some motor mounts.

trust me, a Mark 4 chevy installed in a 49-54 chevy will require firewall modifications if you intend to locate the radiator in the stock position.even a small blcok chevy will require removal of the pair of firewall gussets. mike

Ok I got a 350 smallblock & a vet. tran. a radiator & sterring colum and all of it come out off a S-10 CHEVY I think I can make it all work.

I put a 350 in my 54 Chev. HAVE A SERPENTINE SET-UP with wide brackets for a/c compressor & alternator,etc. I use drivers side air duct,blocked off firewall hole on passenger side. One duct works fine,use a/c when very hot outside.Ample room. You can get a 350 with either side mounts or front (of block)mounts. No firewll mods. necessary
