Oil is leaking between the back of the oil pan and the clutch housing. It can't be a rear main seal because the '28 National Coach appearently didn't have one!Right?OK,then why can I not find a replacement, or have I not looked in the right place?Oil pan gasket maybe? Any help or suggestions welcomed. Thanks, Buddyp BRBud

Could be the rear pan gasket or a rear main bearing that has two wide a gap. Any gap between crankshaft and main bearing over 0.002" is likely to leak. The wider the gap the more oil will leak. A teeny leak is normal.

You need to check clearence on main bearings. If the rear main is over .002 it will leak. also check the drain hole and ball cheak in the rear cap.

Yes, sounds like excessive rear (or perhaps all) main bearing clearance issues to me too.

OK,so are you suggesting I get out the plasti-gauge and plan on removing a shim or two? As you can guess, this stuff is new to me but i'm not too old to learn something, from those willing to help. Thanks, BRBud

Yes, but if you do it from under the car you need to support the weight of the crank.
