Wineglass7,

1929-34 parts manual lists part number 355994 as the rivet for 1930-1934 all models.

1929-41 parts manual shows 355994 as being 9/32" long. I assume the hole diameter in the brake shoes determines the diameter of the rivets. It shows the rivet used all the way up to 1940 but on rear only of the later models.

Neither manual lists this rivet along with the standard parts in the back of the book.

Hope this helps.

New linings are generally supplied with correct rivets but if you are using old stock linings the rivets may well have fallen out of the package.

I also have a set of replacement linings and extra set of linings for my '33 Master so decided to do a little more checking. I suppose different lining manufacturers back in the day may have had different dimensions so best to do a little measuring and consultation before ordering if you do not have a nearby brake and clutch shop nearby. I found a good website for Jay-Cee Sales and Rivet Co. phone 248-478-2150. The dimensions and depth of the hole in the lining as well as the hole in the shoe will all come into play. They can probably tell you what you need. I will be checking them too at some point.

It appears the carburetor is not getting fuel.Plenty gas in tank. what would be the best way to check if fuel pump is bad.I thought to pull line off at carb and turn engine. Any advice is most appreciative. Thankyou.

Tank line off the intake of fuel pump. Put piece of hose on end of fuel line to tank, blow into tube and listen for bubbles in tank. It should be relatively easy to blow on the line. If bubbles in tank then the line is clear and below the gas level. If easy to blow into line and no bubbles then pickup in tank may be damaged, missing or rotted off.

If line is okay put it back on and snug it. Make sure the cover (or strainer bowl) is on tight. Take off line to carb, put hose on the outlet and into a catch bottle or can. Turn over engine with key off or rotor removed or coil wire off distributor (so engine does not start unexpectedly). Any gasoline from fuel pump? If none then take pump off engine and operate the pump by hand. First put finger over outlet and see if any pressure is generated when lever is operated. Suction on inlet? If pressure but no suction then seal at cover (or glass bowl or inlet fitting) is leaking.

hi chipper,

I replaced the fuel pump on 1958 corvette. It took a lot of time
however it came off without a hitch as I followed your advice.
Thankyou very much for your time.
