Got the car running and it idles great, but is backfiring upon giving gas.. any suggestions?

DRLOWZ it could be dirt in carb, timing, bad gas, plug wires, spark plugs, weak coil etc. I'd check timing then carb first.

If you have an RX-0 carburetor (early '27) then you will need to clean out the main jet. If the later RAJX-0 then the well jets. It is common for modern gas to plug the small passages in the jets. They are 69 to 70 drill size passages and easily bridged by polymerized gasoline.

Ok update, its a 27 motor with a 28 head?
