Hi

I just rebuilt my engine and bought a used transmission. Engine block number 835501 and transmission number 590391.

I started the rebuilt engine for the first time yesterday and it sound good. However when I tried to engage to gears It did not allow me to engage to any gear but gave me a big sound. I pressed the clutch hard but it is difficult to enter to any gear. The bottom line is I cannot enter to any gear smoothly. It gives a big sound. However with great difficulty I entered to first gear and reverse gear. what is the real problem and How to correct this. Any help please....Appreciated.

How much free play is on the clutch peddle? Sounds like your clutch needs adjusted.

The clutch is adjustable....check your repair manual and it will tell you how to adjust the clutch.
