I am re-upholstering my 37 Two Door Town Sedan. Want to install a speaker in the center above the head liner. Can't find a speaker that will fit in the original bracket which is located in the center just above the windshield and above the headliner. Anyone have suggestions? Thanks

Show me a picture of the bracket you have so I can see if it is the 0riginal unit. Am I to understand you do not have the speaker core?

What I have is a piece of heavy dense cardboard with a hole 6 inches in diameter which fits the brackets between the windshield frame and the front cross bow which supports the head liner. No part of any speaker, just that hole in the board. My uncle bought the car new in 1937 and it never had a radio. I bought it from him in 1956 when he bought a new Buick.

An added note, the original board has pretty well disintegrated. I bought a LeBarron Bonney kit and it included a new board which fits the brackets on the car perfectly, looks pretty much a duplicate of the original.

I think you need one of these first then the speaker. I bought this to install on my 38.

The picture solafide posted is the correct speaker housing to fit the mounting board in your car. The actual speaker mounts in that housing. I have one in my '37. I believe there were different radios available and not all used the overhead speaker.
