Good morning,
Are the cowl light pads the same on the '30,'31, and'32? The '32s are available on eBay, but I can't find a listing for them in my Steele Rubber catalog. If the '32s work, has anyone had experience with the eBay product?
Also was there a pad under the headlamp stanchions? If so, Availible?
Thanks,
Tony

Originally there were no cowl light pads. There were pads between the headlight bar and fender. It was a asphalt impregnated fabric. I use 30# roofing felt. Could also make some for the cowl lights and other places were metal parts come together. The rubber pads sold by many places are not original and the raised edge very obvious when installed.

Thank you Chipper and BkRds,
That explains the slight crazing I had around the plate.
I have a set of pads for the crossbar so I'll just trim off the lip.
I'll prep it and mount the cowl lights without anything under them, then shoot it. Should be OK. No chance of breaking the topcoat.
I have some filler material that will work under the stanchions. Easy to break the paint snugging them down.

I run the lynn steele cowl light rubber pads under my 35 std chev. I also run the headlight mounting pads and the end of the mounting bar at rad shell , plus the ones under the l & R tail lights. Saves metal to metal dig in damage from accidental over tightening pretty sure lynnn steel makes them for 32 because my cowl lights are based on those 32's mike------------------

Steele rubber make all of the rubber mounting washers. Unthought not original they do save the paint from chips. The cowl light bezels on the 32's tend to crack if over tightened .The rubber provide a bit of the cushion.

On my '31, I took 30# felt and cut the oval shape to put under the cowl lights. It is not noticeable and yet it keeps the escutcheon from rubbing on my paint/clear coat. That way, if needed, they can be removed too.

Despite what most people think, the 30# felt properly shaped and installed will protect the paint like the incorrect rubber pads. Beside that it will look like the original.
