I will be putting the doors back on Bearsfan 29' 4dr. soon. It had a mix of flat and oval head screws which most are pretty rusted with bad threads. My own 31' has oval heads and didn't know if that is what the 29 should have or if it should have flat heads. I doweled most all the holes and installed some "T" nuts for through bolts/screws to have some mounting screws with machine threads. I have to order the hardware and want to order what is correct. Thanks is advance.

My 29 has oval heads in the hinges. While someone painted the car and did upholstery 40 years ago, it has never been apart/restored.
Not till I have done and seen it all will I go peacefully.

So there will be wood screws and then machine screws in each hinge to the car frame per say. this should hold the doors on securely and nicely.
as for which is Correct, i have seen both in a 1929 & 1930. Though most of them were flat head slotted wood screws.

I have slotted oval screws in my '30 Special. All the same and all appear original.
I had a couple that wouldn't tighten sufficiently. I drilled out the holes and inserted 1/4-20 anchors, which are secured with construction glue and slotted oval machine screws. A T nut will hold a lot better but as mine is assembled and the interior is in place, aged and very tender I opted for the anchors. Only time will tell if they hold.
