I took the shroud ventilator cover out (the ventilator in front of the windshield) to clean out all the rust and replace the gasket which was missing. The rust has been cleaned up, the area painted and a new gasket installed.

My question is "What is the best and/or only way to get the plunger and spring assembly (right hand side of vent cover) to slide into the elongated slot on the plunger support? The 1934 Fisher Body Service Manual - Pg 22 - describes adjustments, but nothing on reinstallation."

Any advice would be appreciated.

Have you tried to put it on while the vent is in the shut position? Seems to me that it must be closed where there is no tension on the spring. It has been a long time since I went in there and I can't remember. Work the leaver and see where there is the closest spot to getting it in. That may give you an idea where to flip in back into the slot. Working upside down is not my specialty.

Thanks for the reply. I tried some of that with no success, but I will have another go at it.

Can you post a photo of it? I think the trick is to get it close to the point of going in and then it slips in under pressure. But do not bend it. May be one of the other members has had this problem. Looks like he took it out and can not get the cowl vent back in!

I will see what I can do. I think I can get a decent picture, but am not sure how to post the picture.
