With the addition of "corn" to today's gasolines, can I use the following modern materials instead? Straight cooling hose (radiator hose) for the gas tank filler hose and steel brake line (5/16") for the fuel line from the fuel pump to the carburetor?

The gas filler neck hose was always a special gas and oil resisant hose. DO NOT USE COOLING SYSTEM HOSE as the gas will turn it to mush.
The steel linesbrake or gas, require nothing special.

Here is a photo of what I purchased for the filler neck hose. It came with the smaller hose as a set. If you look closely, you can see where they covered the word COOLANT with black marker. I just discovered this with a little lacquer thinner and a rag. I guess I have to return another item that is not exactly correct.

I'd stay away from corn in the gas. usually there is some station that offers ethanol free premium somewhere. more expensive I know, but it keeps the crud out of the works.

I found a supplier that still offers filler neck hose in the 1 3/8" ID size. The item number is D138S. Go to fillernecksupply.com
