Hiya folks.

I was toying around today with my dad's old '53 3100 yesterday... and the steel brake that goes to the rear axle burst.

egads!

Luckily I was stopped when it happened... 5 minutes earlier and it would have been an interesting ride with the park brake.

Time to swap out the metal lines then... I've swapped out and bent straight ones from the store before, but I noticed some of the vendors have all the pieces in a kit, but I imagine unless specifically written, they are all straight lines that need to be bent as well.

Anyway, just looking for suggestions for steel brake line sourcing, pros and cons.

Thanks.

Hello,
I recently purchased a set of steel brake lines for my 1950 3100 from Inline Tubing. They gave me all the lines I needed and were present. The lines that were over 5' in length had a gentle bend in them for shipping. They give you instructions on how to unbend. Minor tweaking was required to get them to fit. No big deal. It was a good set.

If it were mine I would make new lines and bend as necessary. The little 3/16" line on a 1951 and up are easy to work with. While I was at it I would also replace the rubber hoses.

Thanks for the replies folks.

The brake line rubber hoses have already been replaced and seem in good order, but I will give them a going over anyway. The truck has been sitting awhile.

Thanks.

One more vender for you. I bought stainless lines for my 53 a number of years ago from classic parts...actually before they were called classic parts :)

good price, good fit, no complaints
