can the switch be lubed or W-D 40 ed? or is replacement in order? The switch will erratically shut off headlights when pushed....

On other brands/years of cars, I have uncrimped the switch to clean the contacts.

If a good quality replacement switch is available, I would replace it.

You can get reproduction switches through your local parts store. I managed to get another month or two out of mine by squirting some penetrating oil into it but I eventually had to replace it anyway.

If the switch body is steel and you are careful they will come apart and go back together but be careful of the springs that make it all work. If it is alloy body it is unlikely to crimp properly.
