I have not come accross any mention of what to do with the starter motor when converting from 6 volts to 12 volts. Can the 6 volt starter be used?

No problem. Your 6 volt starter will LOVE 12 volts.
Good luck with your car.

But don´t overuse the starter or it will overheat, as it will be running faster and with higher voltage. In Tom Langdon´s site there is a good article on that conversion: www.stovebolt.com

I have a idea. I had a 12 volt altenator from my Corvette and they sell a "wide" pulley replacement for about $20.00 for it. Can I use this with some bracket modifications to mount it the altenator?
