Just curious as to the key locks on a 1950 Chevy Deluxe. Are there 2 separate key pinnings (Door/Ignition and Trunk/glovebox/gascap) or is it only one pinning for everything? The Trunk latched for the first time in two years and I do not have a key for anything yet. I need to pull the door cylinder off and get a key made anyhow, but do I need to pull the glovebox lock also to get the correct trunk key made (double expenditure)

There is only one key for all.

Got it. got keys made for them. The book says one key for ignition and door, the other key for trunk and glovebox/gas cap. different key heads. ignition door has hex head, while the other has a oval bump. in any case, the keychain looks vintage now with the GM script.

Page 11 of the 1950 owners manual says "car comes with two identical keys that operate the front door locks, ignition, trunk and glove box locks"
All 1948-1962 had a one key operation.

probably so...just have not checked the dual key bit...but there are 2 separate heads, probably just for the "give me the trunk key please" type of thing. Either case, I can now open and lock the doors/trunk/etc... and freak the young kids out by taking the ignition key out of the dash while the car still runs. laugh
