The guy who does upholstery work on most of my stuff (I just have zero interest in learning upholstery work. I do almost everything else). came over the other day and stripped out the interior. The back rest in the rumble seat was just fitted foam covered with vinyl. I assume that originally there were springs. Is that correct?

Are springs available? Does anyone have a set ? Can some other springs be adapted? The upholstery guy says he can make a cushion with foam again, but I'd rather go original if possible.

Thanks. Tom

Check with Snyder's Antique Auto Parts. They have some Chevy springs even though they are primarily a Model T & A part supplier.

Wow! What great advice. I called Snyder's early this morning. They had this particular spring set on hand and it should be in my hands in about 3 or 4 days. Thanks Chipper.

Glad you found one. Snyder's has been making some Chevy springs for over 30 years.

Got to get a backrest for my 32' olds which is the same as a 32' Chevy cabriolet. Snyders has that also. Hampton Coach carries the springs but I think they get them from Snyder anyway. I also need the wood for the backrest. HC lists the wood also. Not sure if Snyders carries the wood. For me it's a toss up as I live close enough to HC to go and pick up what I need and I also get a discount as I'm an installer. Shipping these days is a killer. Just bought two tubes and flaps for my Olds from Coker and shipping was over $32! The box will probably be about 12 x 12 x 6" and weight about 4-5lbs.

Either Snyder's or Carline in Beaumont Texas make most of the seat springs. Other sellers buy springs from them.
