My gears are worn but usable. Does anyone know where I could get them reconditioned or replaced? Does anyone have used gears in good condition for sale? The first two show the most wear. Wasn't there a thread awhile ago about having gears made?
Recommendations appreciated.
Thanks, Pete

Hello Pete, you have a couple of options. One is to replace the gears that are worn enough to warrant replacing using 29 gears. another is to replace all internal parts with another year ie 27, 28, 30, or 31?. Not 100% sure about 31 as the case was getting significant mounting changes about that time. I have several 29 transmissions around here and one has 28, or 30 gears in it since the main shaft is 6 spline instead of 10 like the other 29. Being on the West coast I am about as far away from NY as you can get.

Thanks Beachbum I would need to see if the used gears are better than mine. I guess the parts I am concerned about would be called spline gears? They may not have been fully engaged and the way they are worn it looks like would try to disengage.

If the wear gets to be angled even more, it will jump out of gear on deceleration, and if it gets bad enough, it won't stay in gear at all.

I have a few boxes of nos gears and a few that look like what you need. Ten spline. Can you send me a few more pics and measurements to be sure, my email is in my profile.

Photos set. One Chevrolet set of main drive and sliding gear and one nors. The aftermarket set is 1/8 longer when assembled and is marked WT 10.
