Im restoring a 1947 chevy convertible I'm ready to paint the convertible top frame and would like to know the proper color to paint it. So if there is anyone out there that has this answer you will be my hero!! I plan to have this car ready for the Carmel concours on the avenue in August thank for your help!

My research says black for 1948. Can't see why 1947 would have been any different.

I can't speak to a 47 but can show you pictures of the top frame assembly from my 41 before and after restoration. This is an original black exterior, black top outside, tan top inside car. Notice in the before picture the main top supports, (where the support bolts to the car body) and the side rails (over the doors) are painted black. The main front header bow was also black. The bows however were painted tan to match the inside of the top fabric. When we had this discussion (regarding 41's) a few years ago on the forum, some people reported they had black bows but it is my opinion they had original black fabric on the inside. Hope this helps, I have more pictures if you need them. Mike

I'm having trouble posting the pictures right now so I'll try again this evening.

It would make sense. The black top would have black bows and the tan top tan bows.
