I replaced the frontbwheel outer bearing on my 30 coupe. When I reassembled it the crown bolt was about a half inch deeper on the spindal than the cotter pin hole. The wheel turns but has some drag. Whats up

Was it a complete bearing? Inner race, ball assembly and outer race.
The 1929-1954 cars all used the same bearing however it was improved with larger balls in the later years.

The wheel turns but has some drag.

Back off on the front brakes until the wheel turns freely. Then read your shop manual on how to the adjust the brakes. When the front brake is adjusted correctly there should be a slight drag on the wheel.

Just a note: When placing the hub on the spindle, be sure the bearing is seated in the race along with the inner spindle collet in the bearing too. Be careful as you slide the hub on the spindle being sure all of the bearing stays seated. If not, at times, the bearing will allow the hub to seat all the way, but the spindle will not protrude enough to correctly fit the washer and castle nut allowing the cotter pin hole to be aligned.

Itt was a complete bearing set, the problem is that the spindle protrudes too much so the Castle nut is beyond the hole for the cotter pin.

Did you match the new parts with the old? I would pull things apart and check again. If the parts are correct and installed correctly things will line up.
