Has anyone used or does anyone know if the master ball housing will fit on a 1933 - 35 standard torque tube. The master has the better tail seal. Is that the only difference? Seems like an easy improvement on the problematic standard seal.

The ball seal on my 32 is 1-3/4" ID. It's the same on a 33 master. My parts book list the ball seal for the 33-35 Standard as 3-1/4" therefore unless there is a misprint I doubt it will fit.
This is a duplicate post but the answer is still the same.

I found a square O-ring seal to replace the cork seal in a 1933-35 standard ball housing.
I will list them for sale as I had to buy 25 and pay a rediculous shipping charge.

Someone confirmed that the 1933-35 master ball housing is larger than the standard. So they do not interchange. The square O-ring appears to be a viable solution. My standard cork seal measures 1-5/8"ID x 2"OD. Same as the square Nitrile O-ring. :)

Hi
I probably got into this to late but I stock a complete transmission gasket set that fits 1933-36 Chevy Standard trasmisions made by Best Gasket which has the correct size nitrile rubber o-ring that fits the u-joint ball slip joint that I am aware of. I have sold a few of these sets and have not had any complaints on them concerning fit of the gaskets or seals. The driveline from the transmission back to the rear wheels is completely different for 1933-36 Standard (smaller sized) compared to the Master series cars from everything I have seen on it. If interested in the 1933-36 Standard trans gasket set, please click on these website links http://marxparts.com/repro%20chevy_tranny_driveline.htm and http://www.marxparts.com/images/6043.jpg If you need to know what the size of the o-ring is that we have for the u-joint ball slip joint, just let me know and I can check it out.

Thank you for the reply. As for the Best gasket set I used the O-ring from the set without sucess. Don't know if it's me or the o-ring. As everyone with a standard car from 33-36 this is a BIG gray area as far as what part fits what. The gasket set says the O-ring is for 1933 cars but it seemed snug on my torque tube I tried it. I contacted Best but could not get a definitive answer. I didn't say anything more because it said 1933. I have posted in "parts for sale" the square sided O-rings for others to try.
The square O-ring obviously has more contact surface and should out perform the "round" sided O-rings. My opinion.
