Question: I ordered a rear axle seal kit from the FS for my '31. Replacing the felt seal with the neoprene one on the outer seal (bearing/axle retainer) was a piece of cake.

Now the inner seal: The kit came with cupped inner seal assemblies, about 2.75 in diameter with neoprene seals in center. I'm assuming the old cork (or leather) seal is also part of an assembly that must be removed. How best to do so? It almost looks as if the new inner seal will fit right into the recess and the bearing/axle might butt up against it without removing the old but I'm betting that's wrong.

Best Regards,

Tom

You should remove the old axle seal before installing the new axle seal.
