I'm working on a 29 old tractor conversion, and the carbon bearing is worn down to almost touching the TOB housing.

I have an inexpensive ball bearing conversion that I put together this morning, but the face of the new bearing, protrudes a tick over 5/16" from the forward edge Chevy carbon housing.

I don't have a spec on how thick the original carbon can be, yet still be able to have free-play.

I am guessing the original carbon must have protruded at least 1/4" inch from the metal housing?

I know I could wait until I get the clutch back together to do some measures and math, to know if I can get free-play, but was thinking that somebody would know? Thanks

Because there were many versions and replacements I measured from the face of the carbon back to the center of the pivots. I got 17/32".
