: I'm restoring a 1940 Master Deluxe. Does anyone know what the interior code 271 looked like? Does that number refer to the entire interior (seat color/material, dash colors/instruments, options...)? How do I find out?

271 is the paint code number, Battleship Gray. A dark metallic gray.
The interior trim mnumber would be like 86. It refers to the upholstery material. There was only one interior for a Master Deluxe. It was a tan short mohair material.

This is embarasing. I have the paint chart for the exterior so I know what that color is. I should have been a little more specific. My dash is a mess. I really don't know what color it was and I was hoping that there would be a refrence somewhere that would tell me what it used to be. I want to restore the whole car to it's original glory, however, I've seen some ugly dashes and this may be where I vear from the original.
Not remembering off hand what the two digit number is (I think it's 97?) is there a source where I can find what that number means?

The number refers to the upholstery material. All 1940 Master Deluxe models had the same color (woorgrained) dash and garnish mouldings. There is no sorce for the paint and wood graining.

Thanks, that will help greatly. Do you know if all the interior trim was the same was the same in all Master Deluxes? I realize the seats were mohair but were all door and window trim the same?
I was hoping that there was a resource where I could look up all that information. But I guess there isn't one.

The seats and side panels on a Master Deluxe had the same tan mohair material. It has a slight ribbed stripe in it. Anything you find today will be just a solid tan.
Information from parts book and 1940 show room albumn.
There is a sample of the material in the show room albumn. The albumns sell for around $500 on ebay

KD,

You should contact Grain-It Technologies in Florida. They are a company that specializes in woodgraining. They have worked out the base colors, grain patterns and colors for most vehicles. I was very pleased with their products for my 38 moldings.
