I am interested in picking up where others have gone before...
Being a Mechanical Engineer by trade and I am very familiar with the manufacturing industry. So that being said, I am in the process of measuring up an original Trico Sidemount mirror and doing some 3D models and drawings to send out to get quoted to be reproduced. I have a question, because I have read others who have said that they don't work well anyway why have them. But then there are others who would want a set.
Would I be wasting my time in this endeavor or not? I believe that they would sell quite well. I welcome all comments.

I honestly don't know. When I first went to Hershey in 71, the 29-32 era car brands were reaching their peak of popularity, or so it seemed.

the things to think about is the age of average owners, and if they had their car for 40+ years, they probably would have found some if they wanted them.

next is cost; the more made will lower the unit price, but how many have sidemounts, and of those, how many would buy these?

29-32 era will always be my favorite, but I see that most are getting street rodded, and they don't want sidemounts or mirrors.

If you want them, and don't care about sizable profit return by the time of the last pair you sell...and enjoy the task, I would go for it

LeBaron Bonney sells them 800-221-5408 , $48.00 w/leather straps, or $62.00 w/ chains. They look good but you can't see good. You need 8"arms mirrors on your post for todays traffic. You got to have them to see beside you.

I believe that the sidemount mirrors that LeBaron Bonney sells are aftermarket mirrors and not the Trico sidemount mirrors.

Also, at present there are two other fellows that I know that are in the process of making the Trico sidemount mirrors.

I have a sidemount mirror on my 1930 and it does help me to see what's behind me but I also have a side mirror on the top door hinge. The door hinge mirror gives me the best view of the 2. The sidemount mirror has gotten a lot of good comments from the people who see it on my car. I think that they look good on a car.
I have an original Trico mirror which is missing the internal wind up parts. I would like to buy the missing parts for my mirror or if that isn't possible then I would be interested in a repro unit.
