I'm new to this site, but what I've read so far has helped me out quite a bit! My question is what is the correct size rims that my vehicle should have? I have a 1942 to 1946 shop manual and it lists 16 inch. Did they change to 15 inch in 1947? Also how do you tell the difference between a passenger car rim and a truck rim? My vehicle is a 1947 Chevy Stylemaster 2 Door town sedan.

Well, first, since the car is new to you, you need to make sure what you are asking about is still stock/original to your car. You said you have 15" rims, are they 6 lug as that is what is original. Or, have they been changed at some point in time to five lug? In 1948 Chevrolet offered 15" rims as a option.
As to difference between car/truck '41/'48 I believe they are the same? If not, GENE will correct me..

Em0560 You may want to start by getting the correct shop manual...Russell is correct, reveiw the manual to get a good understanding of the originality of your car...Certainly a good place to start...If your car is new to you there could be many, many modification you would never be a wear of

The 41-48 16" car wheels are 4" wide and, like you, I think the p/u for those years are the same. The p/u went to 4-1/2" x 16 sometime in the early/mid 50s. They would still work just fine in my opinion if you happen to run across a set of them.
