Hello all.
I am about to fit a new king bolt to my 23.
Can someone please advise me if the bolt just drives out from the base?
I think I'm correct in saying that I then need to drive out the old bushes and fit new ones, which then need to be reamed?
Can I do this on a pillar drill ?
Any advice welcomed
Steve

Probably need access to an arbor press or heavy duty bench vice to replace the bushings. afaik all king bushings 1936(?) and back require reaming to size.

These two articles may help:

The king bolt/kingpin,has a thread at the bottom which screws the pin into the bottom hole of the front axle eye. You'll need to remove the castellated nut,and un-screw it using the hexagonal head at the top of the pin, then tap it out the rest of the way.
The wheel spindle bushes will need to be pressed out,new ones pressed in and reamed to suit the diameter of the new pin.A press would be a better option to remove the old spindle bushes if you can access one.

Steve, an easy way to remove the bushings is to tap them and install a bolt and then drive them out using a hammer and a metal rod.

Very helpful gentlemen thank you.
I have a local machine shop who have agreed to let me use their press.
